Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 115926

Translation · EN

"And the likeness of an evil word" is polytheism, "is as an evil tree," meaning: the colocynth, "uprooted from the surface of the earth," meaning: cut off from the top of the ground, "having no stability," meaning: its root has no firmness in the earth. Such is the parable of the disbeliever's deed; his good deed has no foundation.
