"[The Day] the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well]." Muhammad said: That is, and the heavens will be replaced. "And they will come out before Allah," barefoot and naked, "the One, the Prevailing." He has subdued His servants through death and through whatever He willed.
Muhammad said: The meaning of the replacing of the heavens is the folding up of its sun, the eclipse of its moon, the scattering of its stars, its breaking apart, and its splitting.
﴿يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَات﴾ قَالَ محمدٌ: أَي: وتبدل السَّمَوَات ﴿وبرزوا لله﴾ حُفَاة عُرَاة ﴿الْوَاحِد القهار﴾ قَهَرَ عِبَادَهُ بِالْمَوْتِ وَبِمَا شَاءَ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: وَمعنى تَبْدِيل السَّمَوَات: تَكْوِيرُ شَمْسِهَا، وَخُسُوفُ قَمَرِهَا، وَانْتِثَارُ كَوَاكِبِهَا، وَانْفِطَارُهَا، وَانْشِقَاقُهَا.
