'It has seven gates,' some of which are layered one below the other. The uppermost gate is Jahannam (Hell), then Saqar (the Scorching Fire), then Laza (the Blazing Flame), then al-Hutamah (the Crusher), then al-Sa'ir (the Burning Flame), then al-Jahim (the Fierce Fire), and then al-Hawiyah (the Abyss). Jahannam and al-Nar (the Fire) precede the other names. 'For each gate is a portion of them assigned.'
﴿لَهَا سَبْعَة أَبْوَاب﴾ بَعْضُهَا تَحْتَ بعضٍ مُطْبَقَةٌ؛ الْبَابُ الأَعْلَى جَهَنَّمُ، ثُمَّ سَقَرُ، ثُمَّ لَظَى، ثُمَّ الْحُطَمَةُ، ثُمَّ السَّعِيرُ، ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمُ، ثُمَّ الْهَاوِيَةُ، وَجَهَنَّمُ وَالنَّارُ يَقْدُمَانِ الأَسْمَاءَ ﴿لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْهُم جُزْء مقسوم﴾.
