"{And both of them are on a manifest highway." He says: Indeed, the settlement of the people of Lut and the Companions of the Al-Aykah is upon a clear road.
Muhammad said: A road is called 'imam' because it is followed; that is, it is used for guidance.
﴿وإنهما لبإمام مُبين﴾ يَقُولُ: وَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابِ الأَيْكَةِ لَبِطَرِيقٍ واضحٍ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: قِيلَ لِلطَّرِيقِ: إِمَامٌ؛ لأَنَّهُ يُؤْتَمُّ بِهِ؛ أَيْ: يُهْتَدَى بِهِ.
