"And Allah presents an example: two men, one of them dumb," meaning: he cannot speak, referring to the idol. "He is unable to do anything, and he is a burden to his master," meaning the guardian who takes charge of him and worships him; meaning that he made it with his own hand and spends his earnings upon it. "Wherever he directs him," meaning this worshiper of his; referring to his calling upon it, "he brings no good. Is he equal," this idol, "to one who commands justice," and he is Allah, "and he is upon a straight path?" This is similar to His saying: "Indeed, my Lord is upon a straight path."
Surat an-Nahl from verse (77) to verse (80).
