Al-Kalbi said: This means the calculation of the mansions of the sun and the moon, for every day is a mansion.
Muhammad said: The recitation is in the accusative case (nasb): "wa-al-shamsa wa-al-qamara" (the sun and the moon); meaning: and He made the sun and the moon. Among their expressions is: 'Everything has its limit by its husban (reckoning)'; meaning: by its calculation.
قَالَ الْكَلْبِيُّ: يَعْنِي:
حِسَابَ مَنَازِلِ الشَّمْسِ وَالْقَمَرِ، كُلُّ يَوْمٍ بِمَنْزِلٍ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: الْقِرَاءَةُ بِالنَّصْبِ: (وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَر)؛ أَيْ: وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ، وَمِنْ كَلَامِهِمْ: حَدُّ كُلِّ شيءٍ بِحُسْبَانِهِ؛ أَي: بِحِسَابِهِ.
