Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 247108

Translation · EN

"And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge" (Quran 6:108).

Yahya said: It is read as "adwan" (enmity) and "uduwwan" (hostility), and it is from "al-udwan" (aggression), and "al-udwan" means injustice.

"Thus We have made fair to every community"—meaning to the people of every creed—"their deeds" (Quran 6:108).

Al-Kalbi said: The polytheists said, "By Allah, Muhammad shall either cease insulting our gods, or we shall insult his Lord," so this verse was revealed.

Surah Al-An'am from verse (109) to verse (111).
