Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 263121

Translation · EN

"And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, and indeed it is a grave disobedience (fisq)", meaning: it is shirk (polytheism). He says: The consumption of carrion, when deemed lawful, is shirk.

"And indeed, the devils do inspire their allies" from among the polytheists "to dispute with you". The interpretation of Mujahid is as follows: He said that the polytheists used to dispute with the Muslims regarding the slaughtered animal, saying: "As for what you slaughter and kill, you eat it, but as for what Allah has killed (i.e., died naturally), you do not eat it, yet you claim to follow the command of Allah?" So Allah revealed: "And if you were to obey them," by deeming the carrion lawful, "indeed, you would be associators (mushrikun)."

Surat al-An'am from verse (122) to verse (124).
