"And the companions of the heights will call out"—the companions of the heights here are angels—"to men whom they recognize by their marks, saying, 'Of no avail to you was your gathering' in the world, 'and the arrogance you used to display' towards the worship of Allah.
﴿ونادى أَصْحَاب الْأَعْرَاف﴾ وَأَصْحَاب الْأَعْرَاف هَا هُنَا مَلَائِكَةٌ ﴿رِجَالا يَعْرِفُونَهُمْ بِسِيمَاهُمْ قَالُوا مَا أغْنى عَنْكُم جمعكم﴾ فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ﴾ (ل ١٠٧) عَن عبَادَة الله.
