"So today We will forget them," meaning: We will abandon them in the Fire, just as they abandoned "the meeting of this Day of theirs," and did not believe in it, meaning: in the world, "and [because] they were rejecting Our verses."
Surah Al-A'raf from verse (52) to verse (53).
﴿فاليوم ننساهم﴾ أَيْ: نَتْرُكُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ؛ كَمَا تركُوا ﴿لِقَاء يومهم هَذَا﴾ فَلَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ؛ أَيْ: فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿وَمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ﴾.
