at the base of the mountain, and Moses ascended the mountain. Allah spoke to him for forty days and forty nights, and therein He wrote the Tablets for him. Then, the Children of Israel counted twenty days and twenty nights, and they said: "Moses has broken his promise to us!" And the Samiri fashioned the calf for them, so they worshipped it.
فِي أَسْفَل الْجَبَل (ل ١١٠) وَصَعِدَ مُوسَى الْجَبَلَ، فَكَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا وَأَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً، وَكَتَبَ لَهُ فِيهَا الْأَلْوَاحَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَدُّوا عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا وَعِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً؛ فَقَالُوا: قَدْ أَخْلَفْنَا مُوسَى الْوَعْدَ! وَجَعَلَ لَهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ الْعجل؛ فعبدوه.
