"Do they not look into the kingdom of the heavens and the earth," meaning: the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and what Allah has shown them of His signs therein, "and [in] what Allah has created of all things," and [look] at what He has created of things that they see, so that they might reflect and know that He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them is capable of resurrecting the dead, "and that it may be that their appointed time has drawn near," so they should hasten to repent before death, "then in what message after it," after the Quran, "will they believe?" [i.e.,] will they affirm?

﴿أَو لم ينْظرُوا فِي ملكوت السَّمَوَات﴾ يَعْنِي: مُلْكَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ مَا أَرَاهَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ آيَاتِهِ فِيهِمَا ﴿وَمَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شيءٍ﴾ وَإِلَى مَا خَلَقَ مِنْ شيءٍ مِمَّا يَرَوْنَهُ فَيَتَفَكَّرُوا، فَيَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا قادرٌ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى ﴿وَأَنْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ قد اقْترب أَجلهم﴾ فَيُبَادِرُوا التَّوْبَةَ قَبْلَ الْمَوْتِ ﴿فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيث بعده﴾ بعد الْقُرْآن ﴿يُؤمنُونَ﴾ يصدقون.
