'We provide them every day from our remnant… and no one from among them returns to us.'
"And when you do not bring them a sign, they say, 'Why have you not contrived it?'" meaning: Why did you not bring it from yourself? Allah said: "Say," to them, O Muhammad: "'I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This is insight,'" meaning: the Qur'an.
Muhammad said: The singular of 'basa'ir' (insights) is 'basira'; it is a word that functions in various ways, and its root is the clarity and manifestation of a thing.
(نَمُدُّهُمْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِنْ بَقِيَّتِنَا … وَلا يَئُوبُ إِلَيْنَا مِنْهُمُ أحدٌ﴾.
﴿وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِمْ بِآيَةٍ قَالُوا لَوْلَا اجتبيتها﴾ أَيْ: هَلا جِئْتَ بِهَا مِنْ عنْدك. قَالَ الله: ﴿قل﴾ لَهُمْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ: ﴿إِنَّمَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَبِّي هَذَا بصائر﴾ يَعْنِي: الْقُرْآنَ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: وَاحِدُ الْبَصَائِرِ: بصيرةٌ؛ وَهِيَ كلمةٌ: تَتَصَرَّفُ عَلَى وُجُوهٍ، وَأَصْلُهَا بَيَانُ الشَّيْءِ وظهوره.
