Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 747

Translation · EN

they disbelieve and act with disobedience.

Muhammad said: The root of al-baghy (injustice/transgression) is to progress into corruption. From this, it is said: 'The wound has transgressed (bagha)' when it worsens into decay, and 'the woman has transgressed (baghat)' when she commits fornication.

"O mankind," meaning the polytheists, "your injustice is only against yourselves," meaning: a harm upon you, for they shall be recompensed for it with the Fire. "[As] enjoyment of the worldly life," he says: Your injustice and disbelief are only in the world, then it shall be cut off and you will return to Allah, Glorified be He.

Muhammad said: The nominative case (raf') in His saying "enjoyment of the worldly life" (mata'u al-hayati al-dunya) is permissible in the sense that it is a predicate for His saying "your injustice is against yourselves." The meaning is: That which you attain through this corruption and injustice is only something you enjoy in the worldly life.

Surah Yunus from verse (24) to verse (25).
