"Unquestionably, the promise of Allah"—that which He promised in this world—"is truth"—regarding the promise of Paradise and the warning of the Fire—"but most of the people do not know"—meaning: the polytheists, and they are the majority of people.

﴿أَلا إِن وعد الله﴾ الَّذِي وَعَدَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿حَقٌّ﴾ مِنَ الْوَعْدِ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَالْوَعِيدِ بِالنَّارِ ﴿وَلَكِن أَكْثَرهم لَا يعلمُونَ﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُشْرِكِينَ؛ وَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ.
