Volume 2 · Page 86522

Translation · EN

"They are, in the Hereafter, the greatest losers." "La jaram" (Verily/There is no doubt) is a term of threat.

Muhammad said: It has been reported from Ibn Abbas that he used to say: Its meaning is "truly." Al-Zajjaj mentioned from Sibawayh that he said: "Jaram" means "true/certain," and "la" (no) was introduced for negation, as if the meaning is: "That which they invented will not avail them; it is certain that they will have the Fire."

And he cited the verse: "And I have thrust a spear at you, Abu Uyaynah, a thrust... that made Fazarah angry thereafter."

He says: [The thrust made certain for Fazarah] the anger.

Muhammad said: Qutrub cited: "Jaramat Fazaratu ba'daha an yaghdabu" (The tribe of Fazarah became certain/bound after it that they would be angry).
