Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 2 · Page 92987

Translation · EN

"They said, 'O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship?'" They mean: their idols.

Al-Hasan said: Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, did not send a prophet without obligating upon him prayer and Zakat.

Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: The meaning is: does your religion command you? And this is the meaning of what Al-Hasan went with.

"Or that we should do with our wealth what we wish?" meaning: or that we should leave doing [as we wish] with our wealth.

"Indeed, you are the forbearing, the rightly guided." This means: you are not the forbearing, the rightly guided [said sarcastically].
