"That is from the reports of the towns, which We relate to you; of them is that which is standing," meaning you see it, even though its inhabitants have perished, "and of them is the mown," meaning you see no trace of it.

﴿ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْقُرَى نَقُصُّهُ عَلَيْك مِنْهَا قَائِم﴾ تَرَاهُ قَدْ هَلَكَ أَهْلَهُ، وَمِنْهَا ﴿حصيد﴾ لَا ترى لَهُ أثرا.
