the mosque. Then he called out, 'Ya Sabaha!' (a cry of alarm used for imminent danger). The people were alarmed and came out, asking, 'What is the matter with you, O son of 'Abd al-Muttalib?' He replied, 'O family of Ghalib!' They said, 'These are the Ghalib [clans] gathered before you.' Then he called out, 'O family of Lu'ayy!' Then he called out, 'O family of Murrah!' Then he called out, 'O family of Ka'b!' Then he called out, 'O family of Qusayy!' So the Quraysh said, 'The man has warned his closest kindred; see what he intends.' Abu Lahab said to him, 'These are your kinsmen who have gathered, so what is it that you want?' The Messenger of Allah said, 'Do you see, if I were to warn you that an army was going to attack you in the morning, would you believe me?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Then I am warning you of the Fire, and I possess no benefit for you in this world, nor any share in the Hereafter, unless you say: There is no god but Allah.' Abu Lahab said, 'Woe to you!' So Allah revealed, 'May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined.' The Quraysh then dispersed away from him, saying, 'He is a madman raving from the top of his head.'
