"He said, 'O my people, why are you hastening the evil before the good?'" (Qur'an 27:46). The 'evil' is the punishment, due to their saying: "Then bring us what you promise us, if you are of the messengers." The 'good' is the mercy.
﴿قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قبل الْحَسَنَة﴾ والسيئة: الْعَذَاب؛ لقَولهم: ﴿فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ من الْمُرْسلين﴾ والحسنة: الرَّحْمَة
