"So those are their houses, desolate"—He says: There is no one in them, and they were in a place called: Al-Hijr.
Muhammad said: Whoever reads "khawiyatan" (desolate) in the accusative case (nasb), it is [functioning] as a state (hal).
Surat An-Naml (Verse 54 - Verse 58).
﴿فَتلك بُيُوتهم خاوية﴾ يَقُولُ: لَيْسَ فِيهَا أَحَدٌ، وَكَانُوا بِمَوْضِعٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْحِجْرُ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: من قَرَأَ ﴿خاوية﴾ بِالنّصب فَهُوَ على الْحَال.
