[Qul siru fi al-ardi fanzuru kayfa kana aqibatu al-mujrimin] (Say, "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals"), meaning the polytheists. Their end was that Allah destroyed them, then consigned them to the Fire. He warns them that there may befall them of the punishment of Allah that which befell those polytheists who were before them.
﴿قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوا كَيفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَة الْمُجْرمين﴾ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانَ عَاقِبَتُهُمْ أَنْ دَمَّرَ الله عَلَيْهِم، ثمَّ صيرهم إِلَى النَّارِ؛ يُحَذِّرُهُمْ أَنْ يُنَزِّلَ بِهِمْ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللَّهِ مَا نَزَلَ بِمَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
