"Indeed, this Quran narrates to the Children of Israel," meaning: those who were contemporaries of the Prophet, peace be upon him, "most of that over which they differ," meaning: what their predecessors differed about, what they distorted from the Book of Allah, and what they wrote with their own hands, then said: "This is from Allah."
﴿إِن هَذَا الْقُرْآن يقص على بني إِسْرَائِيل﴾ يَعْنِي: الَّذين أدركوا النَّبِي عليه السلام ﴿أَكْثَرَ الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ﴾ يَعْنِي: مَا اخْتَلَفَ فِيهِ أَوَائِلُهُمْ، وَمَا حَرَّفُوا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ، وَمَا كَتَبُوا بِأَيْدِيهِمْ، ثُمَّ قَالُوا: هَذَا من عِنْد الله.
