Translation · EN

"And We inspired to the mother of Moses" meaning: We cast [the inspiration] into her heart, and it is not the revelation of prophethood. "That suckle him, but when you fear for him" [the consequences of] the search, "then cast him into the river" meaning: "into the sea," "and do not fear" for him the loss, "nor grieve" that he will be killed. "Indeed, We will return him to you." Qatada said: So she placed him in a chest, then cast him into the sea.

﴿وأوحينا إِلَى أم مُوسَى﴾ أَيْ: قَذَفَ فِي قَلْبِهَا، وَلَيْسَ بِوَحْيِ النُّبُوَّةِ ﴿أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ فَإِذَا خفت عَلَيْهِ﴾ الطّلب ﴿فألقيه فِي اليم﴾ ﴿فِي الْبَحْر﴾ (وَلَا تخافي﴾ عَلَيْهِ الضَّيْعَة ﴿وَلَا تحزني﴾ ﴿أَنْ يُقْتَلَ﴾ (إِنَّا رَادُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: فَجَعَلَتْهُ فِي تَابُوتٍ، ثمَّ قَذَفته فِي الْبَحْر
