Translation · EN

"And a man came from the farthest part of the city, running," meaning: hastening. "He said: O Moses, indeed the chiefs are conspiring against you to kill you."

Muhammad said: "Yatamaruna" (they are conspiring) is the form "yafta'ilun" derived from "al-amr" (the command/matter); the meaning is: they are instructing one another to kill you.

Qatada said: This is because when the [other] Copt heard the Israelite say to Moses: "Do you want to kill me as you killed a soul yesterday?", he disclosed it. Consequently, the chiefs of Pharaoh's people conspired to kill him. This news reached the believer from the family of Pharaoh, who is the one who came from the farthest part of the city, so he informed Moses.
