[Moses] said, 'You have already known that none has sent down these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidences.' Meaning: proofs. The general reading is 'laqad 'alimta' (you have known) with the fathah on the ta'; meaning Pharaoh, similar to His saying: 'And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness.' 'And indeed, I think you, O Pharaoh, are destroyed.' Meaning: doomed.
﴿قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا أَنْزَلَ هَؤُلَاءِ﴾ يَعْنِي: الْآيَاتِ؛ يَقُولُ هَذَا لِفِرْعَونَ ﴿إِلَّا رب السَّمَاوَات وَالْأَرْض بصائر﴾ يَعْنِي: حُجَجًا. مَقْرَأُ الْعَامَّةِ: ﴿لَقَدْ علمت﴾ بِفَتْحِ التَّاءِ؛ يَعْنِي: فِرْعَوْنَ؛ كَقَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وعلوا وَإِنِّي لأَظُنُّكَ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُورًا﴾ أَي: مهْلكا.
