"And it will be said, 'Call your partners,'" meaning: the idols. "So they will call them, but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment," meaning: and they will enter into the punishment. "If only they had been guided," meaning: if only they had been rightly guided in the world, they would not have entered into the punishment.
﴿وَقيل ادعوا شركاءكم﴾ يَعْنِي: الأَوْثَانَ ﴿فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَهُم وَرَأَوا الْعَذَاب﴾ أَيْ: وَدَخَلُوا الْعَذَابَ ﴿لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَهْتَدُونَ﴾ أَيْ: لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُهْتَدِينَ فِي الدُّنْيَا مَا دَخَلُوا الْعَذَابَ.
