"And of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein"—meaning: in the night—"and that you may seek of His bounty"—during the day. This is a mercy from Allah for the believer and the disbeliever. As for the believer, the mercy of Allah is perfected for him in this world and the Hereafter, whereas for the disbeliever, it is a mercy for him in this world, but he has no portion in the Hereafter.
﴿وَمِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَار لتسكنوا فِيهِ﴾ يَعْنِي: فِي اللَّيْلِ ﴿وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضله﴾ بِالنَّهَارِ؛ وَهَذَا رَحْمَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ وَالْكَافِرِ؛ فَأَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُ فَتَتِمُّ عَلَيْهِ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَهِي رَحْمَةٌ لَهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَلَيْسَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَة نصيب.
