"And whoever strives, he only strives for his own soul," he says: Allah will grant him the reward for that. "Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds," meaning: from their worship.
﴿وَمَنْ جَاهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِ﴾ يَقُولُ: يُعْطِيهِ اللَّهُ ثَوَابَ ذَلِكَ. ﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ﴾ أَي: عَن عِبَادَتهم.
