"Do not know; they know what is apparent of the worldly life." Al-Hasan said: He means: they know when to plant, when to harvest, and when their livestock will give birth. "And of the Hereafter, they are heedless," meaning they do not acknowledge it.
Surah al-Rum from (Verse 8 to Verse 10).
﴿لَا يَعْلَمُونَ يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرًا مِنَ الْحَيَاة الدُّنْيَا﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَقُولُ: يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ زَرْعِهِمْ، وَحِينَ حَصَادِهِمْ، وَحِينَ نِتَاجِهِمْ ﴿وَهُمْ عَنِ الآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ﴾ لَا يقرونَ بهَا.
