[And fear a Day when no father shall avail aught for his child]—meaning, he shall not ransom him from the punishment of Allah. [Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth]—meaning: the Resurrection, the Reckoning, Paradise, and Hellfire. [And let not the Deceiver deceive you with respect to Allah]—referring to the Devil. It is also recited as (al-ghurūr) with a damma on the ghayn; meaning: the deception of the worldly life, which is its vain falsehoods.
