"O wives of the Prophet, whoever of you should commit a clear immorality" (33:30), meaning: adultery, according to the Tafsir of Al-Suddi. "for her the punishment would be doubled" (33:30). Al-Hasan said: Meaning: in the Hereafter.
Muhammad said: The meaning of "for her the punishment would be doubled" is that it is made twice over. The term "di'f" (double/multiple) in the language means the equivalent; it is said: "This is the di'f of this," meaning: its equivalent.
Surat Al-Ahzab from (verse 31 to verse 32).
﴿يَا نِسَاءَ النَّبِيِّ مَنْ يَأْتِ مِنْكُن بِفَاحِشَة مبينَة﴾ يَعْنِي: الزِّنَا؛ فِي تَفْسِيرِ السُّدِّيِّ ﴿يُضَاعف لَهَا الْعَذَاب ضعفين﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَعْنِي: فِي الْآخِرَةِ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: مَعْنَى (يُضَاعَفْ لَهَا الْعَذَاب ضعفين) أَيْ: يُجْعَلُ مِثْلَيْنِ؛ الضِّعْفُ فِي اللُّغَةِ: الْمِثْلُ، يُقَالُ: هَذَا ضِعْفُ هَذَا؛ أَي: مثله.
