Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 3 · Page 151651

Translation · EN

"(You may postpone whom you wish of them)" - this refers back to the story of the Prophet.

Al-Hasan's interpretation: The Prophet, peace be upon him, would mention a woman for marriage and then postpone her; meaning: he would leave her and not marry her. When he mentioned a woman to marry her, it was not permissible for anyone to interfere with that mention until he either married her or left her. "(And you may take to yourself whom you wish)" - meaning: you may marry whom you wish. "(And whomsoever you desire of those whom you have set aside, there is no blame upon you)" - he says: There is no obligation of division [upon you] regarding them. "(That is more likely that they will be comforted)"
