"And present to them the example of the worldly life: [it is] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it."
Muhammad said: It means: it rushed into the vegetation, so the vegetation took its adornment. "And [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds." He informs that this world is transient and vanishing, just as that vegetation vanished after its splendor and ornamentation.
﴿وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاءٍ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهِ نَبَات الأَرْض﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يَعْنِي: انْدَفَعَ فِي النَّبَاتِ، فَأَخَذَ النَّبَاتُ زُخْرُفَهُ. ﴿فَأَصْبَحَ هشيما تَذْرُوهُ الرِّيَاح﴾ فَأَخْبَرَ أَنَّ الدُّنْيَا ذَاهِبَةٌ زَائِلَةٌ؛ كَمَا ذَهَبَ ذَلِكَ النَّبَاتُ بَعْدَ بهجته وزينته.
