"And the criminals shall see"—the polytheists—"the Fire, and shall apprehend"—meaning: they shall know with certainty—"that they are to fall therein, and they shall find no escape from it"—meaning: no deviation or turning away to anything else.
﴿وَرَأى المجرمون﴾ الْمُشْركُونَ ﴿النَّار فظنوا﴾ أَيْ: عَلِمُوا ﴿أَنَّهُمْ مُوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمْ يَجدوا عَنْهَا مصرفا﴾ أَي: معدلا إِلَى غَيرهَا.
