"But they have an appointed time from which they will find no escape." Al-Hasan said: A refuge.
Muhammad said: It is said, 'Wa'ala fulan ila kadha' (So-and-so took refuge in such-and-such) when he resorts to it for shelter. It is also said, 'La wa'alat nafsuka' (May your soul not escape), meaning: may it not be saved. And 'fulan mu'ail' (so-and-so is a seeker of refuge), meaning: he is hastening to save himself. From this is the saying of the poet:
(May your soul not escape, you who left it [vulnerable] to the Banu Amir, without being wounded.)
