His saying: "As for the boy, his parents were believers." Qatada said: In some readings it is: "He was a disbeliever, and his parents were believers." "And we feared that he would impose upon them tyranny and disbelief."
قَوْلُهُ: ﴿وَأَمَّا الْغُلامُ فَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤمنين﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: وَفِي بَعْضِ الْقِرَاءَةِ: (فَكَانَ كَافِرًا وَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤْمِنَيْنِ). ﴿فَخَشِينَا أَنْ يُرْهِقَهُمَا طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا﴾.
