Volume 3 · Page 27513

Translation · EN

"And mercy from Us," meaning: We gave him mercy from Us.

Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: The root meaning of al-hanan (mercy/tenderness) is affection and mercy; from this is the saying of the poet:

(She said, 'Hanan [mercy/what is the matter], what brought you here? Are you a kinsman or are you acquainted with the people of the tribe?')
