Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 3 · Page 290

Translation · EN

Muhammad said: It is said: "Qarartu bihi 'aynan" (my eye has become contented by him), using the fatha on the qaf in the future tense, with the verbal noun "qururan". And "qarartu fi al-makan" (I stayed in the place), using the kasra on the qaf, and "'aynan" is accusative as a specifier (tamyeez). "Then if you see any human being, say: 'Indeed, I have vowed a fast to the Most Merciful'" — meaning: a silence — "'so I will not speak to any human today.'" She was permitted to say this, and it was a sign that Allah set for her on that day.

Muhammad said: It is said of one who refrains from food or speech: he is a "sa'im" (fasting).
