"Then strike for them a dry path in the sea." Al-Hasan said: Gabriel came to him on a horse; he commanded him, so he struck the sea with his staff, and it became a dry path.
Muhammad said: Meaning: possessing dryness.
Yahya said: It has reached me that it became twelve paths, one path for every tribe.
﴿فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يبسا﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: أَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ؛ فَأَمَرَهُ فَضَرَبَ الْبَحْرَ بِعَصَاهُ، فَصَارَ طَرِيقًا يَبَسًا.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يَعْنِي: ذَا يَبَسٍ.
قَالَ يَحْيَى: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّهُ صَارَ اثْنَى عَشْرَ طَرِيقًا، لِكُلِّ سِبْطٍ طَرِيقٌ.
