"So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers." Muhammad said: It means: He overtook them. "And there covered them from the sea that which covered them," meaning: They drowned.
﴿فأتبعهم فِرْعَوْن بجُنُوده﴾ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يَعْنِي: لَحِقَهُمْ ﴿فَغَشِيَهُمْ من اليم مَا غشيهم﴾ يَقُول: فَغَرقُوا.
