Translation · EN

"Then Moses returned to his people, angry and sorrowful," meaning: sad, in intense sorrow along with his anger at what his people had done after him. "He said, 'O my people, did your Lord not make a good promise to you?'" regarding the Hereafter, based on adhering to His religion, "'Then, was the time too long for you?'" meaning: the promised time.

﴿فَرَجَعَ مُوسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أسفا﴾ أَيْ: حَزِينًا شَدِيدَ الْحُزْنِ مَعَ غَضَبِهِ عَلَى مَا صَنَعَ قَوْمُهُ مِنْ بَعْدَهُ ﴿قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا﴾ فِي الْآخِرَةِ عَلَى التَّمَسُّكِ بِدِينِهِ ﴿أفطال عَلَيْكُم الْعَهْد﴾ يَعْنِي: الْموعد
