"On that Day they will follow the Summoner" (yawmaʾidhin yattabiʿūna ad-dāʿī), the one in charge of the Trumpet; that is: they will hasten to him when they emerge from their graves. "There is no crookedness for him" (lā ʿiwaja lahu), meaning: they will not swerve from answering him to the right or to the left. "And voices will be hushed before the Most Merciful" (wa khashaʿati al-aṣwātu lir-Raḥmāni), that is: they will be still. "And you will not hear except a whisper" (fa-lā tasmaʿu illā hamsā). Al-Ḥasan said: It means the sound of footsteps.
Muhammad said: The hams (whisper) in the language is something hidden.
