Translation · EN

"And faces shall be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer," meaning: they shall be abased. The Sustainer (al-Qayyum) is He who sustains every soul.

Muhammad said: It is said, 'ana ya'nu' (to be humbled), when one submits. "And whoever carries injustice shall fail," meaning: shirk (polytheism).

﴿وعنت الْوُجُوه للحي القيوم﴾ أَيْ: ذَلَّتْ، وَالْقَيُّومُ: الْقَائِمُ عَلَى كُلِّ نَفْسٍ.

قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يُقَالُ: عَنَا يَعْنُو؛ إِذَا خَضَعَ. ﴿وَقَدْ خَابَ من حمل ظلما﴾ أَي: شركا.
