Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 3 · Page 576

Translation · EN

"And he called out in the darkness," meaning: in the darkness of the sea, the darkness of the night, and the darkness of the belly of the whale, "that there is no deity except You," to the end of the verse.

Yahya [narrated] from Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq, from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn Malik, from his father, from his grandfather Sa'd, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The supplication of Dhu al-Nun when he called out while in the belly of the whale: 'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.' For no Muslim has ever called upon his Lord with it for anything but that He has answered him."
