O Gabriel?' He said: 'These are those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly.' Then he recited this verse: 'Indeed, those who consume the wealth of orphans unjustly only consume into their bellies fire, and they will be burned in a Blaze' [An-Nisa: 10]. Then I proceeded and found people whose flesh was being cut from their bodies and fed back to them, and they were wailing loudly. I said: 'Who are these, O Gabriel?' He said: 'These are the backbiters and slanderers.' Then he recited this verse: 'Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it' [Al-Hujurat: 12]. Then I was with women suspended by their breasts—and I believe he said: 'And there were snakes and scorpions biting them.' I said: 'Who are these, O Gabriel?' He said: 'These are the wet nurses who kill their children.' He said: 'Then I came upon the path of the people of Pharaoh, where a multitude goes to the Fire, exposed to it morning and evening; when they see it, they say: "Our Lord, may the Hour not stand," because of what they see of the punishment of Allah. Then I was with men whose bellies were like houses; they would attempt to stand but would fall onto their backs and bellies. The people of Pharaoh would pass over them and trample them with their feet. I said: 'Who are these, O Gabriel?' He said: 'These are the usurers.' Then he recited this verse: 'Those who consume interest cannot stand except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity' [Al-Baqarah: 275]. Then we were ascended until we reached the second heaven. Gabriel requested entry, and it was said: 'Who is this?' He said: 'Gabriel.' It was asked: 'And who is with you?' He said: 'Muhammad.' It was asked: 'Has he been called for?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Welcome to him, a most excellent arrival.' So it was opened for us, and I was with the two cousins: Yahya and Isa.
