Translation · EN

"[He calls] upon one whose harm is closer than his benefit," meaning: the idol as well; meaning: that he spends upon it while it is a burden upon him. "How wretched is the protector, and how wretched is the associate."

﴿يَدْعُو لَمَنْ ضَرُّهُ أَقْرَبُ مِنْ نَفعه﴾ يَعْنِي: الْوَثَنَ أَيْضًا؛ يَعْنِي: أَنَّهُ يُنْفِقُ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلَيْهِ ﴿لبئس الْمولى﴾ يَعْنِي: الْوَثَنَ ﴿وَلَبِئْسَ الْعَشِيرُ﴾.
