"The Day He will call you" from your graves, "and you will respond with His praise." Qatadah said: meaning, with knowledge of Him and obedience to Him. The response is their emergence from their graves to the caller, the one tasked with the Trumpet. "And you will think" in the Hereafter, "that you had stayed" in the world "only a little while," as the world will seem insignificant to them.
﴿يَوْم يدعوكم﴾ من قبوركم ﴿فتستجيبون بِحَمْدِهِ﴾ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: يَعْنِي: بِمَعْرِفَتِهِ وَطَاعَتِهِ، وَالِاسْتِجَابَةُ: خُرُوْجُهُمْ مِنْ قُبُورِهِمْ إِلَى الدَّاعِي صَاحب الصُّور ﴿وتظنون﴾ فِي الْآخِرَة ﴿إِن لبثتم﴾ فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿إِلَّا قَلِيلا﴾ تصاغرت الدُّنْيَا عِنْدهم.
