"And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him" is like His saying: "Fear Allah as He should be feared." Both are abrogated; the verse in Surah al-Taghabun has abrogated them: "So fear Allah as much as you are able." "And He has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty," meaning: any constriction. "The religion of your father, Abraham. He named you 'Muslims'"—Allah says: He named you Muslims from before, meaning: before this Quran, in all the scriptures and in the Dhikr (the Reminder), "and in this" (the Quran).
Muhammad says: "The religion of your father" means: follow the religion of your father. "That the Messenger may be a witness over you" by having conveyed [the message], "and you may be witnesses over the people."
