"[Until We seize their affluent ones with punishment] meaning: Abu Jahl and his companions who were killed on the day of Badr, [then behold, they cry out for help]. Al-Hasan said: They scream to Allah in repentance, but it is not accepted from them."
﴿حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِمْ بِالْعَذَابِ﴾ يَعْنِي: أَبَا جَهْلٍ وَأَصْحَابَهُ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ﴿إِذَا هُمْ يجأرون﴾ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: يَصْرُخُونَ إِلَى اللَّهِ بِالتَّوْبَةِ فَلَا تقبل مِنْهُم.
